Reuters quoted according to data from the China Iron & Steel Association, China's daily crude steel output hit an average of 1.478 million tonnes in May 11th to 20th the highest level since the end of February.

The CISA figures showed crude steel production was 14,781,430 over the second 10 days of May which would translate into an annual rate of 539.5 million tonnes. Last year's steel output was 500.5 million tonnes.

At the end of February, crude steel output was running at 1.51 million tonnes per day.

China's government has said it plans to cap steel output at 460 million tonnes this year.
