[Ferro-Alloys.com] Both demand and prices for cobalt remained flat this past week. Buyers were unwilling to add supply as downstream production was largely halted until January. The price for cobalt held at $12.00-12.50 per lb for Co 99.8% material. Price increases are speculated to occur in the near-term as strong demand in early 2014 could cause prices to rise should supplies remain tight due to the shutdown at ENRC’s Chambishi cobalt operation in Zambia. It remains unclear how the shutdown will affect supplies as some expect buying to start strong in January.
