[Ferro-Alloys.com] Chile’s copper production rose 7.1% year-on-year in August, with output at BHP Billiton’s Escondida, Anglo American Sur and Collahuasi’s operations increasing.
The country produced 492,600 tonnes of copper in the month, up from 459,900 tonnes a year earlier, according to Cochilco, the country’s national copper commission. Escondida mine produced 104,000 tonnes of copper in August, up 17.6% year-on-year. Collahuasi, owned by a consortium comprising Anglo American (44%), Glencore Xstrata (44%) and other investors, also reported a stark growth with output at 46,400 tonnes in August.
