It’s reported that the Brazilian Steel Institute (IABr) has lowered its forecast for growth of domestic steel shipments for 2013 to 5% from the previous 7.6%.
IABr currently forecasted that the country’s domestic steel shipments would increase by 5% to 22.7 million tons, according to Albano Chagasm, the board chairman of IABr.
In 2012, Brazil shipped 21.6 million tons domestically.
Meanwhile, IABr also cut the forecast for the country’s steel exports. It predicted that Brazil’s steel exports would fall by 8.8% to 8.5 million tons in 2013.
