According to data released by Korea Iron and Steel Association (KOSA), the country’ exports of carbon hot rolled coils (HRC) totaled 273,000 tons in August, slumping by 40% year on year and touching the lowest level of this year.
In the first eight months of this year, the country’s HRC exports amounted to 2.79 million tons, falling by 21% year on year.
It’s analyzed that the slumped HRC export was caused by low export prices and tight suppliers from the country’s two major steelmakers Posco and Hyundai Steel.
