[Ferro-alloys.com] Chinese Hebei province is to cut 86million tons of steel capacity by the close of 2020, equivalent to about one third of current capacity in an effort to tackle air pollution. Hebei provincial government said that it aimed to reduce total capacity by 60 million tons before 2017 and by another 26million mt before 2020.Steel capacity in Hebei province which is China’s largest steel producing province is about 300 million tons at present.
