PrintSeveral US rebar manufacturers on Wednesday filed a long-anticipated trade case against Turkish and Mexican producers.
Nucor Corp., Gerdau Ameristeel US Inc., Commercial Metals Co., Cascade Steel Rolling Mills Inc. and Byer Steel Corp., along with the Rebar Trade Action Coalition, petitioned the US Department of Commerce and the US International Trade Commission to investigate antidumping and countervailing duties for rebar from Turkey, as well as antidumping duties for Mexican rebar.
Domestic producers allege imported rebar sold at less than normal values has harmed the US industry by putting downward pressure on prices and stunting mill capacity utilization rates.
