[Ferro-Alloys.com] According to Mr. C.S. Verma, the Chairman of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) said that the company may exceed National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) to become the largest iron ore producer in India if it receives exploitation approval for its own mines.
SAIL’s iron ore annual output will increase to 42 million tons within the next one and half year from the current 25 million tons. Also, its steel production will rise to 24 million tons from the current 16 million tons.
At present, NMDC’s iron ore annual production is at 28 million tons and it expects to raise the output to 4 million tons in the following three years.
