Japanese imports of high-carbon ferrochrome totaled 146,922 mt in the first quarter of 2013, down 6.6% from 157,243 mt from the same 2012 period. Imports from South Africa fell 5.4% to 71,280 mt from 75,321 mt, while deliveries from Kazakhstan decreased 12.4% to 53,953 mt from 61,572 mt. Imports from India rose 25.3% to 17,158 mt from 13,697 mt. Other importers were: Russia, 1,643 mt, down from 3,537 mt; Finland, 2,382 mt, up from 118 mt; Turkey, 125 mt, down from 2,106 mt; China, 294 mt, up from 16 mt; and Zimbabwe, 26 mt, down from 817 mt.
