According to foreign media PTI, the top four Indian steelmakers JSPL、JSW steel、SAIL and Tata steel India produced 14.95 million tons of steel in the third quarter of 2020/2021(October-December 2020), up 6% from a year earlier. In the same quarter of fiscal year 2019/2020, the total steel output of the four major steel companies was 14.09 million tons.
According to data from the top four steelmakers, total sales of three other steelmakers, excluding JSW, rose from 2.25% to 10.88 million tons in the third quarter of the year, compared with 10.64 million tons in the same period last year.
Among all four steel companies, Tata steel India was the season's biggest producer, producing 4.6 million tons of steel, up 3% from 4.47 million tons a year earlier.
SAIL steel production rose 9% to 4.37 million tons from October to December 2020, compared with 4 million tons in the same period last year, and sales were 4.32 million tons in the same quarter, up about 6% from 4.09 million tons in the same period last fiscal year.
JSW Steel steel production rose 2% to 4.08 million tonnes in the third quarter, compared with 4.02 million tonnes in the same period last year.
JSPL third-quarter increased 18% to 1.9 million tons from 1.6 million tons a year ago; sales rose 12% from 1.7 million tons to 1.9 million tons. These four steel companies account for about 45% of India's total steel production.
