Canadian mining company Sama Resources has obtained a new exploration license, contiguous to the nickel-copper-palladium Samapleu license, to explore for base metals over 80km2 land package in Cote d’Ivoire.

The new license, dubbed the Grata permit, was 100%-owned by Sama Nickel Cote D’Ivoire SARL, a fully-owned subsidiary of the company.

The first of a program of three to four boreholes was drilled at the Yepleu sector to test the large geophysical anomaly interpreted from a 2013 time domain electromagnetic helicopter survey.

The 614m borehole also intercepted a sub-horizontal sequence of 366m alternating diorite/anorthosite and mafic units – part of the Yacouba layered complex.

Meanwhile, the TSX-listed company noted that preliminary results using a hand-held Niton portable XRF analyzer returned an interval of 6.65m, grading 0.30% nickel and 0.26% copper, including 0.55m at 0.90% nickel and 0.80% copper.

This mineralization was identical in nature to the mineralization observed near surface in all the other boreholes drilled in 2014 at the Yepleu prospect.

Sama also planned to perform a downhole electromagnetic survey in the first borehole to acquire more precision on the target at depth prior to the drilling of the second borehole.

This was expected to take place in this quarter.
