[Ferro-alloys.com] According to Finland's Outokumpu said that the company were using stainless steel slab instead of steel ingot which would significant savings in cost and materials during heavy forging process.

Meanwhile, the thickness up to 300 mm of slab offers many benefits compared to traditional steel ingots. It also can improve the production efficiency of 8%-15%. 

Stainless steel slab is widely used in demanding application environments, such as flanges, power plant components, shipbuilding, marine parts and petrochemical pipelines and fittings.
