[Ferro-Alloys.com] Reportedly, Mauritania in northwest Africa exported 13.4 million tons of iron ore in the year of 2013, hitting a record high in the country’s history.
Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière (SNIM), the state mining corporation located in the province of Zoueratea, is aiming to increase iron ore production of the country to 40 million tons by 2025, reaching the fifth position of the world’s greatest producers for the material.
The company announced that it discovered a new deposit of 850 million tons of iron ore in the southern region of the country in October 2013.
