According to report released by World Steel, the world’s pig iron output totaled 880.34 million tons in the first nine months of this year, increasing by 5.3% year on year.
In September alone, the world’s pig iron amounted to 97.2 million tons, down by 0.8% from a month ago but rising by 9% year on year.
In the given month, the pig iron production in Asia totaled 74.7 million tons, rising by 10%; that in EU countries was at 7.8 million tons, increasing by 6% and that in the CIS was at 6.8 million tons, down by 1%, all compared to the figures in the same month of 2012.
