ArcelorMittal South Africa Ltd. known as AMSA and Johannesburg - Anglo American Plc’s Kumba Iron Ore unit are in talks regarding a permanent deal for delivery of the raw material.
Kumba agreed to supply AMSA 4.8 million metric tons of iron ore from its Sishen mine, Africa’s largest iron-ore operation, to the local unit of the world’s biggest steel producer at an average price of $65 a ton under a one-year deal.
Kumba and AMSA are hoping that their discussions will lead to agreement on the long-term supply of iron ore from SIOC’s mines, which Kumba’s Sishen Iron Ore Co. controls and operates the Sishen mine, while Exxaro Resources Ltd owns 20% of SIOC.
