According to the data from the World Steel Association, US and Mexico’s August crude steel production was relatively slow compared to the same period in 2012 and Canadian steel production dropped by 16.1% year-on-year.
In August, US’s steel production was 7.4 million tons, falling by 2.91% from 7.62 million tons in August 2012. From January to August, US produced 57.9 million tons, decreasing by 61.1 million same period in 2012
Mexico produced 1.48 million tons in August, down 2.3% from 1.51 million tons same period in 2012. From January to August, it produced 11.7 million tons, also down 1.5% from 11.9 million tons same period in 2012.
Canada produced 930,000 tons in August, decreasing by 16.1% from August 2012 of 1.11 million tons. For the first 8 months in 2013, Canadian steel production dropped 13.2% to 7.96 million tons.
