According to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), Japan’s crude steel output totaled 9.14 million tons in August, falling by 1.5% from a month ago and decreasing by 0.6% year on year.
In August, the country’s output of pig iron totaled 7.14 million tons, down by 1.6% from July and decreasing by 0.7% year on year.
In the first eight months of this year, the country’s production of pig iron totaled 55.86 million tons, up by 2.3%; that of crude steel was at 73.15 million tons, rising by 0.9%, both compared to the figures in the same period of 2012.
