According to China’s state council, it announced to cut down cars, coal usage and iron and steel making within 10 years in order to reduce air pollution across the nation.
It plans to shut down about 15 million tons a year each in iron and steel making capacity in 2015.
The de-commission of additional capacity already increase about 31% from the original plan announced by the Ministry of industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in December 2011.
It targeted to cut down capacity of 48 million tons by the end of 2015.
The China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) estimated about 25 million of capacity of blast furnace would be added this year, lifting up the pig iron capacity by 50 million tons a year.
Crude steel capacity reached 920 million tons in 2012, rising over 50 million tons a year.
