[Ferro-alloys.com]Rio Tinto reported record first-half iron ore production, shipments and rail volumes despite a conveyor belt breakage resulting in one of five ship loaders being side-lined for almost three weeks and despite unseasonably wet weather, which led to flooding in the Pilbara. Rio Tinto’s iron ore production was 51.8-million mt in the second quarter, 7% higher than 48,631 mt in the second quarter of 2012. In the first half, Rio Tinto’s iron ore production rose 6% to 100.1-million mt compared to 94.3-million mt in the first half of 2012.
