Japan’s imports of unwrought cobalt, powder, intermediates and matte fell 13.7% in the first quarter to 2,171 mt compared to 2,517 mt in Q1 of 2012. Imports from Finland fell 20.1% to 1,020 mt from 1,277 mt. Those from Canada decreased 18.3% to 379 mt, down from 464 mt. Imports from Norway fell 12.5% to 98 mt from 112 mt. Imports from Zambia dropped 70.6% to 60 mt from 204 mt. But imports from Australia rose 8.6% to 215 mt from 198 mt. Those from New Caledonia also increased to 168 mt, from zero a year earlier.
