Vale’s Iron Ore Production Negatively Impacted by Weather

[Ferro-alloys.com] Vale’s iron ore production in the first quarter was negatively impacted by the rainy season and other operational issues. First-quarter production fell 3.5% to 67.5-million mt compared to 70-million mt in the first quarter of 2012 and was 21% lower than in the fourth quarter of 2012 when production was 85.5-million mt. Pellet production also fell to 11.7-million mt compared to 13.2-million mt in the year-ago quarter and 12.1-million mt in the fourth quarter of 2012.
