[Ferro-Alloys.com]Ohio-based AK Steel recently posted a net loss of US$60.90 million for the third quarter.
The firm stated that the net loss in the third quarter was caused by the decreased sales volumes and lower shipments in the period.
In the third quarter of this year, AK Steel’s average selling prices were at USD1,073/short ton, falling by 7% from a quarter ago.
At the same time, its sales revenues totaled USD1.46 billion, decreasing from US$1.59 billion in the same period of a year ago. The sales volumes totaled 1.36 million short tons, falling from 1.39 million short tons in a year ago.
In the first three quarters of this year, the company’s net loss reached USD796.9 million.
