Doha meets to focus on aluminium prospects

Panel and themed discussions will follow the opening session on the first day of the Arab Aluminium International Conference to be hosted in Doha by Qatalum from November 20th to 22nd 2012.

Dr Ali al Suwaidi, Qatar Holding technical director and Dr Antonio Tropeano CEO of FATA Hunter & FATA EPC will take part in a debate that focuses on the prospects of aluminium.

During this session, discussions will center on methods of developing the converting industries related to aluminium as countries of the region represent huge productive power and potential accounting for a significant share of aluminium raw material production.

The first day will also see a presentation entitled Reshaping the world aluminium balance to be delivered by Mr Oleg Mukhamed shin deputy CEO of UC Rusal Company, the world’s largest aluminium producer, during which he will review the international aluminium market: demand, price, production and other influencing factors. A session will be held to review the most important technology currently or soon to be implemented in the aluminium industry.

Mr Abdalla al Zarouni senior manager (technology development) at Dubai Aluminium Company, Asgeir Bardal and Bernard Allais (Rio Tinto Alcan Company) will all take part in this session. The first day will wrap up with a discussion on The Arab Spring which will be attended among others by Mr Salam Saada CEO of Active M Company; Mr Coleen Harris ex media advisor to the British royal family; Mr Trevor Phillips formerly with UK’s Equality Human Rights Commission and Mr Mahmoud al Dailami secretary general, Gulf Aluminium Council.
