It is reported that a new steel industry development policy, providing supporting measures to industry revitalization plan is expected to come out before end of June this year.
As disclosed by a MIIT official, the new steel industry policy contains 9 chapters and 40 items, putting up requirements for the steelmakers in terms of adjustment of equipment structure, energy preserving and emission reducing, merger and acquisition, import & export and so on.
The anonymous official said in an industry forum last week that constitution of the 12th five year program should base on the new steel policy.
Some experts said at the forum that overcapacity in China steel sector is periodic and structural and expected the capacity to top 710 million tonnes by 2015 with 650 million tonnes actual consumption.
Some steel makers representatives from central China and the West said steel consumption in these regions will increase and special steel products made by Chongqing Special Steel cannot meet the demand there at all.
A Pangang representative said the less developed regions have fewer steel supplies the governing departments should give support to the local enterprises that have both resource and market.
