PrintIt is reported that Benxi Iron & Steel Co Ltd exported 950,000 tonnes of steel products in 2009, sitting in the place of the third largest steel exporter among mills in China. The number of its oversea buyers increased from not more than 20 to 42 during last year.
Benxi made an amazing achievement in the financial crisis hit 2009. As a quality steel plate production base the company Steel occupies a considerable market share in the world market and regards export as one of the important marketing channels.
The mill once suffered great decrease in the steel export in 2009, even lost part of its regular oversea buyers. Facing up to the difficulties, the mill practices new export oriented strategy to reoccupy lost market and shoot for new buyers.
In early 2010, Benxi Steel caught a big order of 240,000 tonnes of sheets/coils at one stroke from Union Steel. After consolidating the relationship with regular customers, Benxi Steel stretched out to SE Asia, and seized a foothold in Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore. As learned, buyers in AE Asia consumed 150,000 tonnes of Benxi Steel-made products in 2009.
In addition, Benxi Steel also opened the market in EU and Australia, since the state increased export rebate for HR sheets in June 2009. The mill first signed 30,000 tonne supply agreement with Marcegaglia, and accumulatively sold out 80,000 tonnes of products to EU just in Q4 of 2009.
