[Ferro-Alloys.com]According to the latest statistics form the international stainless steel forum, the stainless steel output of the global in 2012 reached a new high record--35.4million tons, 5.2% higher compared with that of 2011. The increase volume mainly came from China, while meanwhile other countries presented the negative growth due to the destocking.
Except China, the total production of stainless steel in Asia decreased by 0.6% to 6 million tons Y-O-Y. While the production conditions among the countries varied widely as Japan fell 2.5% to 3.2 million tons; Chinese Taipei declined by 7.8%; Korea and India rose by 0.5% and 5.3% respectively.
In recent years, China was still the major increasing area of stainless steel production. In 2012, the total stainless steel output of China rose 14.2% to 16.1 million tons and the total production in Asia accounting for 70% of the global.
In recent years, the proportion of stainless steel grades changed a lot, and it could be seen that the importance of both CrMn grades (200serise) and Cr grade (400serises)presented a rise. In 2012, the total CrMn-grade stainless steel production accounting for 21.1% of the total grades in the world; CrNi grades accounting for 54.1% and Cr grade was 24.8% of the total.
