【Ferro-alloys.com】SYDNEY–South32 Ltd raised annual production guidance for its Cannington operations in Australia, but said it would not produce as much manganese ore in Australia as previously forecast.
South32 raised its target for production at Cannington by 5% in the 12 months through June, and said operations were on track to run entirely using haulage trucks from the last quarter of the fiscal year. .
However, the Perth-based miner cut annual guidance for manganese ore production in Australia by 9%, citing the impact of COVID-19 and unseasonal weather that halted the rebuilding of reserves ahead of the wet season.
Reporting its performance in the three months through December, South32 said alumina production was up 4% compared to the previous quarter and it increased production of nickel and zinc by 11% and 12%, respectively. Production of its other commodities was lower, however, with metallurgical coal falling 24% to 1.19 million metric tons.
