A new 400,000-ton bulk cargo terminal officially began operating in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, on Friday, improving the overall service capacity of Zhanjiang port.
Four 400,000-ton vessels carrying iron ore were unloaded at the Leizhou peninsula terminal on Friday, Zhanjiang Port Group Co announced.
The operation of the bulk terminal will raise the core competitiveness of Zhanjiang port and provide better service to customers in the city, a major production base in Guangdong, the company said.
The new terminal will also further improve the investment climate in Zhanjiang and help the city expand trade links with the rest of world in the years to come, it said.
The company said it will spare no effort to promote the industrialization, ecology and digitization of the port to advance cooperation with its foreign counterparts.
Zhanjiang, which borders the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and faces Hainan province, is now one of the major cities on the Chinese mainland for advancing economic cooperation and trade ties between the country and the nations of Southeast Asia.
