In order to strictly implement and further strengthen the dual control policy of energy consumption, the development and Reform Commission of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Department of industry and information technology issued a notice on February 1 to adjust the electricity price and electricity market trading policy of some industries, saying that the differential electricity price policy will be implemented for eight industries including ferroalloy and steel.

In 2021, the levy standard is 0.1 ¥ /kWh for the restricted type and 0.3 ¥ /kWh for the eliminated type (0.4 ¥ /kWh for cement and 0.5 ¥ /kWh for steel). The increase standard of differential electricity price in 2022 and 2023 will be increased by 30% and 50% respectively on the basis of the current level.

The electricity charge accounts for about 21% of the cost of high carbon ferrochrome. The theoretical electricity consumption of high carbon ferrochrome smelting is 3650 kwh, that is, the electricity charge increases by 0.1 ¥ /kW, and the cost of high carbon ferrochrome smelting increases by 365 ¥ / T.
