According to statistics released by International Stainless Steel Forum on December 17, the global crude stainless steel output in the first three quarters of 2020 will reach 36.712 million tons, a decrease of nearly 7.8% year-on-year. In terms of regions in the world, the output of all regions decreased year-on-year: Europe's decline was about 13.1% to 4.546 million tons, US dropped by about 22% to 1.575 million tons, and the mainland of China decreased by about 2.4% to 21.941 million tons, Japan, India and Taiwan in China fell by about 21.8% to 4.593 million tons, and other regions (Brazil, Russia, South Africa, South Korea and Indonesia) fell by 3.1% to 4.057 million tons.
In the third quarter of 2020, the global crude stainless steel production reached 13.557 million tons, an increase of nearly 17.5% over the previous quarter. The output of several major regions in the world is higher than that of the previous quarter: Europe's growth is about 5.4% to 1.414 million tons, the US’s rise is nearly 10.9% to 0.499 million tons, Chinese mainland has grown by nearly 14% to 8.496 million tons, the Asian region excluding Chinese mainland, South Korea and Indonesia has increased by 50.6% to 1.627 million tons, and the other regions have increased by 25.1% to 1.52 million tons.
