According to the World Iron and Steel Association official website on September 24, in August 2020,64 countries included in the World Iron and Steel Association statistics of crude steel production of 156.2 million tons, an increase of 0.6 percent over the same period last year. As the impact of the new crown epidemic continues, many of the production data released this month are estimated, and we may revise the data in next month's production report.
China's crude steel output in August 2020 was 94.8 million tons, up 8.4% from the same period last year; India's crude steel output in August was 8.5 million tons, down 4.4% from the same period last year; Japan's crude steel output in August was 6.4 million tons, down 20.6% from a year earlier, while South Korea's crude steel output in August was 5.8 million tons, down 1.8% from a year earlier.
Germany's crude steel production in August 2020 was 2.8 million tons, down 13.4% from the same period last year; Italy's crude steel production in August was 900,000 tons, up 9.7% from the same period last year; France produced 700,000 tons of crude steel in August, down 31.2% from the same period last year, while Spain produced 700,000 tons of crude steel in August, down 32.5% from the same period last year.
Crude steel production in the United States in August 2020 was 5.6 million tons, down 24.4 percent from a year earlier.
The estimated output of crude steel in the CIS region in August 2020 was 7.9 million tons, down 6.2% from the same period last year, while Ukraine's crude steel in Ukraine in August was 1.8 million tons, up 5.7% from the same period last year. Brazil's crude steel output in August 2020 was 2.7 million tons, up 6.5% from the same period last year. Turkey's crude steel output in August 2020 was 3.2 million tons, up 22.9% from the same period last year.
