U.S. steel imports fell 51.6% to 1,182.952 tons in August 2020 from a month earlier, according to preliminary statistics released by the U.S. Commerce Department on Friday. U.S. steel imports fell 35.4 percent in August from a year earlier
U.S. steel imports in August were $1.09 billion, down from $1.71 billion in July and $1.83 billion in the same period last year.
Major sources of U.S. steel imports in August included Canada (387,368 tons), Mexico (237,139 tons), South Korea (101,944 tons), Japan (49,685 tons) and Germany (45,607 tons).
