Japan's steel exports were 2.4895 million tons in July, down 18.7% from a year earlier, up 2.75% from a month earlier, according to data released recently by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation.
In July, Japan's export volume of common iron was 1.5956 million tons, down 18.7% from the same period last year, an increase of 3.97% over the previous month, while the export volume of special rolling-mill section was 357,200 tons, down 45.11% from the same period last year, and down 4.7% from last month.
Japan exported 857,200 tons of hot rolled steel, 221,900 tons of steel plate and 121,900 tons of galvanized steel in July.
In July, Japan exported the largest amount of steel to China ,645000 tons, an increase of 42.8% year-on-year; the second is the South Korea, to 391500 tons, down 16.3% from the same period last year; and Taiwan, Thailand and the United States exported 210,500 tons, 205,000 tons and 6.61 tons of steel respectively.
In January-July, Japan exported 19.5604 million tons of steel, an increase of 1.1% over the same period last year.
