Ferro-Alloys.com :The U.S. trade representative's office said that the U.S. is taking additional measures to limit the import of steel from Mexico and Brazil in the face of domestic market difficulties caused by the COVID-19 on Monday.
The U.S. Trade Representative's office said Mexico agreed in the negotiations to establish a strict monitoring mechanism to address the proliferation of steel pipes, mechanical pipes and semi-finished steel.
The U.S. Trade Representative's office also said it would reduce Brazil's remaining import quota for semi-finished steel from in the United States from 350,000 tons to 60,000 tons in 2020, but would maintain its existing quota for other Brazilian steel products.
