According to the report compiled by American Iron and Steel Association (AISI) based on the preliminary data published by US Census Bureau, the import volume of steel products of America was about 2.69 million short tons in July, an increase of 92% from a month earlier. The import volume of steel was about 1.367 million short tons, an increase of 3.6 from a month earlier.
In July, the United States imported the largest number of finished steel from South Korea, at 158,000 short tons, a decrease of 15% from a month earlier; imported 88,000 short tons of finished steel from Bazile, an increase of 286% month-on-month; imported 60,000 short tons from China, an increase of 53% from a month earlier; imported 52,000 short tons from Turkey, an increase of 76% from a month earlier; imported 50,000 short tons from Japan, a decrease of 17% from a month earlier.
From January to July, America’s import volume of steel products was about 15.088 million short tons, a decrease of 19.2% from a year earlier. The import volume of finished steel was about 10.01 million short tons, a decrease of 26.1% from a year earlier.
It is expected that America’s import volume of steel products will reach 25.90 million short tons, a decrease of 7.4% from a year earlier. The import volume of finished steel will be about 17.02 short tons, a decrease of 18.5% from a year earlier.
