[Ferro-Alloys.com] Toyota Motor Corp has decided to again postpone the reopening of its automaking plants in Brazil by two months amid plunging demand and in order to prevent the Covid-19 virus from spreading among its workers, the company said on Monday April 13.
Three units in São Paulo state are scheduled to resume activities by June 22, while another plant in a nearby region will reopen on June 24, Toyota said. The company had planned for the facilities to resume normal operations on April 22.
In other news, General Motors confirmed to Fastmarkets on Monday that it had reached an agreement with workers’ unions to cut salaries, temporarily lay off an undisclosed portion of its workforce and keep its plants in Brazil closed for at least two months. (Fastmarkets)
