[Ferro-Alloys.com] A heavy-duty railway for coal transportation spreading over 1,800 km opened to traffic Saturday in China, according to China Railway Xi'an Group Co Ltd.As one of the world's longest heavy-load railways, the Haoji Railway starts from Haolebaoji in city of Ordos in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and end in Ji'an city, in eastern China's Jiangxi province, spanning seven provinces including Shaanxi, Henan, and Hubei.

 

Australian Mining giant Rio Tinto has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China's steel producer China Baowu Steel Group and Tsinghua University to explore new ways of reducing carbon emissions across the steel value chain.

 

The country should pay more attention to applying market-oriented methods to keep overall price levels for the year within a reasonable range, according to a statement released after a State Council executive meeting.

 

China on September 25 started the trading of yuan-denominated stainless steel futures, the first of its kind worldwide targeting the material widely used in transportation, environmental protection and medical industries.
