According to statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, Turkey imported 25,932 tonnes of stainless steel flat products in June 2012, falling by 35.7% MoM while increasing by 9.9% YoY.

The import values of stainless steel flat products amounted to USD 66.40 million, decreasing by 37.8% MoM and dropping by 3.8% YoY.

In June 2012, Taiwan was the largest exporter of stainless steel flat products to Turkey with 6,296 tonnes, surging by 40% and Germany was the second largest one with 3,527 tonnes, soaring by 46%, both compared to that in June 2011.

In the first six months of 2012, the country's imports of stainless steel flat products amounted to 189,193 tonnes, rising by 9.1% YoY.

Among them, 41,570 tonnes were from Taiwan, up by 1.7% YoY; 27,869 tonnes were from South Korea, falling by 6.8% YoY and 24,401 tonnes were from Germany, soaring by 48.1% YoY.

EU launches probe into dumping of Indian stainless steel wire

 

European Commission said it had received an anti-dumping complaint by European steel producers' group EUROFER against imports of stainless steel wires from India.

 

The complaint alleges that producers of certain types of steel wire have benefited from a number of subsidies granted by India, and are selling their wire in the EU at below-market prices hurting European competitors.

 

The Commission said late on Friday it was opening an investigation into whether or not the steel wire is being unfairly subsidized and has invited the Indian government for consultations on the matter.

 

India and the European Union have been negotiating a free trade agreement since 2007, but talks stalled this year over differences in duties on cars and market access for software and service companies.

 

The EU is India's biggest trade partner and bought more than EUR 40 billion worth of Indian goods and services in 2010. But trade with India represented just 2.4% of the EU's total.
