[Ferro-Alloys.com] According to the Commerce Department's latest steel import monitoring and analysis (SIMA) data, United States iron and Steel Institute (AISI) said the August total steel import permit applications were 3.028 million short tons, down 6% compared with 3.294 million tons in July.
In August United States finished steel import permits totaled 2.282 million tons, down 8% compared with totaled 2.471 million tons in July.
During the first eight months, United States finished steel import included July and August SIMA permits were 3.266 million short tons and 17.576 million short tons, down 22% year on year and 23% year on year, respectively.
