[www.ferro-alloys.com]European ferro-vanadium and ferro-tungsten prices rose on Wednesday July 20 on near-term supply tightness, while molybdenum prices showed signs of bottoming out as the Chinese market stabilised.
Metal Bulletin’s European ferro-vanadium price climbed to $16.70-$17.40 per kg on Wednesday, up from $16.50-17 previously. Cheaper offers for ferro-vanadium from China are no longer available and European buyers are encountering greater spot supply tightness in the near-term, market participants told Metal Bulletin. "China tends to be the swing factor and lower offers have dried up," a trader said. US anti-dumping investigations into ferro-vanadium imported from South Korea have also put a strain on availability for European buyers, as US buyers have begun absorbing some units from Russia, a second trader said. Ferro-vanadium prices have been rising on a daily basis as buyers scramble to book in their material.
