South African Mn Ore Exports in 2014 to Break Through 10 Million Tons

In recent year, South Africa’s miners apparently have reaped handsome profits in expanding production capacity of crude steel. As long-established Miners like UMK capacity expansions and new mines operations, manganese ore output and exports in South Africa have been greatly improved. Actually, South Afrian manganese ore exports already swollen to 9.969 million tons in 2013 from 5.826 million tons in 2008. In 2014, the figure ticked up to 12.088 million tons accoding to related data.

Since China’s manganese alloy output contributed to absolutely share of global production, it becameas “manganese ore market major driving forces". In fact, South Africa already replaced Australia as the largest manganese ore suppliers to China in 2013. Furthermore, Chinese manganes ore imports of South Africa rose to 35.53% of the country's total imports in 2014 from 31.2% in 2013.

Manganse alloy export price in international market has been deprived of the price advantage given 20% export dury levy. Since then, silicon manganese alloy exports in China plummeted to the lowest level 3,635 tons in 2012 from 845,000 tons in 2007. India and other countries took the opportunity to grab global market share. In contrast, silicon manganese exceeded one million tons in 2013 from less than 100,000 tons in 2004. In fact, from South African manganese ore exports data, India already served as the second largest importer.
