[Ferro-alloys.com]According to the statistics, On Jan. 9th, total nickel ores stock was 20.65million tons, decreasing by 200thousand tons compared with last week, which had already declined for 9weeks, with falling rate of 13.6%.Falling inventory and shortage supply expectation resulted in many traders holding the stock and quoting firm.

In recent week the medium and high grade nickel ores spot price declined by RMB10/wet mt while the futures fell by USD2-3/wet mt. Specifically,nickel ore with Ni1.6%, Ni1.7%, and Ni1.8% in Tianjin Port were quoted at RMB460-470/wet mt, RMB520-530/wet mt, RMB580-600/wet mt respectively, and the transaction price for Ni1.9% and Ni2.0% were RMB640-650/wet mt, RMB700-710/wet mt. In future market, medium-grade nickel ore with Ni1.7% and Ni1.8% from Philippine are $57/wet mt FOB and $70/wet mt FOB.

In view of the low grade nickel ores, the poor demand still made the price weak. In recent week the low grade nickel ores spot price was stable while the futures declined by USD1Mwet mt. In details,FOB prices for nickel ore(Fe50%, water33%), nickel ore(Fe49%, water33%), nickel ore(Fe48%, water33%) stayed at $15-17/wet mt, $14-16/wet mt, $13-15/wet mt respectively. Spot prices for above materials were quoted at RMB220-230/wet mt, RMB210-220/wet mt and RMB200-210/wet mt. Despite of the rebound price of low FeNi, the low capacity release was low, which made the nickel ores consumption speed slow. It was expected the low grade nickel ores price hard to recover in Jan.2015.
