[Fellow]Triton Minerals’ (ASX:TON) initial metallurgical results from the Nicanda Hill prospect in Mozambique have recovered very high grade graphitic concentrate of up to 97.3% Total Graphitic Carbon (TGC) using straight forward flotation methods.

Triton Minerals’ (ASX:TON) initial metallurgical results from the Nicanda Hill prospect in Mozambique have recovered very high grade graphitic concentrate of up to 97.3% Total Graphitic Carbon (TGC) using straight forward flotation methods.

With the promising results, this augurs well for project development and the share price is likely to open higher today.

Initial mineralogical investigations have also confirmed the substantial presence of medium and coarse flake graphite of up to 1mm in length.

Initial flotation test work has shown graphite recovery of up 95% at a relatively coarse primary grind of 500μm and work is now focussed on optimising overall graphite recovery, concentrate grades and final concentrate product size distribution.

More detailed metallurgical and mineralogical investigations are planned on a larger scale of samples from across the mineralisation zone while vanadium recovery test work from graphite flotation tailing has been initiated.

“These preliminary metallurgical and mineralogical results are very encouraging for Triton, showing once again that a very high grade graphitic concentrate of up to 97.3% TGC is obtainable from straight forward flotation methods,” managing director Brad Boyle said.

“A more detailed metallurgical and mineralogical test work program is now being conducted from a wider range of locations from across the mineralisation footprint, to obtained a more accurate and representative sample of the graphitic ore and to obtain a better understanding of the physical characteristics of the graphitic material.”
