[Ferro-alloys.com] The second half of late August was embracing massive bids for ferrosilicon for September delivery in China, including major ferrosilicon users such as Shagang Group, HBIS and Shaogang Group. As for purchase volumes, flat volumes were common, with Shagang Group purchasing 4,500 mt of FeSi72# and Shaogang Group procuring 1,000 mt of FeSi72#.

Steady purchase volumes reflected unchanged demand for ferrosilicon, but most medium-sized and small ferrosilicon producers had almost no spot materials, except that large ferrosilicon producers had hundreds of tons. Tight spot supply and ferroalloys futures would help ferrosilicon producers keep firm quotations. Some ferrosilicon suppliers were likely to reduce supplies to steel mills, which was a sign of steel mills being likely to slight increase September bidding prices.
