Elkem is one of the world’s leading companies for environment-friendly production of materials. Its principal products are solar grade silicon, silicon, special alloys for the foundry industry, carbon and microsilica. China National Bluestar acquires Elkem (2011). The annual capacity of ferrosilicon is around 90 thousand tons at present in Elkem.

Elkem has entered into a 50/50 joint venture with the Argentinean investors Grupo Andreani and Grupo Araujo to build a new ferrosilicon plant close to the Paraguayan capitol, Asuncion. The new plant will create around 100 new jobs. Building will start immediately and the plant is scheduled to start production in Q2 2015.

Our flexible production techniques means that we will have a MgFeSi based nodulariser to suit your specific conditions, whilst the extensive inoculant range meets our customers needs.

Combined with a range of preconditioner, FeSi and recarburiser products, Elkem can supply locally products geared to your foundry.

Elkem produces ferrosilicon at Elkem Iceland in Iceland, Elkem Bjolvefossen plant in Norway and Elkem Chicoutimi in Quebec, Canada. The production programme covers all grades of ferrosilicon: Standard Grade Ferrosilicon, Low Aluminium, Low Carbon,High Purity (low Titanium), all grades with 75% or 65% Si.
