China saw its coal imports edge down 0.9% year on year to 134.98 million tons in the first five months of this year, according to statistics released by the General Administration of Customs.
According to the statistics, the import value of coal decreased 13.9% year on year to US$10.78 billion in the five-month period.
Meanwhile, China's coal exports amounted to 2.76 million tons in the first five months, 23.1% less than in the same period of 2013. The export value of coal was US$353.95 million, down 34.5% year on year.
Last month, China's coal imports reached 24.01 million tons with import value of US$1.89 billion, while its coal exports hit 0.49 million tons with export value of US$56.43 million.
