The world stainless association has released figures for the first nine months of 2023 showing that stainless steel melt shop production increased by 2.5% year–on–year to 42.6 million metric tons.

The global nickel market had a surplus of 23,900 metric tons in September, up from a surplus of 14,200 tons in the same month of last year, data from the International Nickel Study Group (INSG) showed on Wednesday.

World crude steel production for the 71 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 150.0 million tonnes (Mt) in October 2023, a 0.6% increase compared to October 2022.
