Brazilian miner Vale's iron ore production between November and January grew 15% from a year earlier, rising faster than in the October-December quarter, according to a presentation released by the firm on Monday.

World crude steel production for the 71 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 148.1 million tonnes (Mt) in January 2024, a 1.6% decrease compared to January 2023.

The world stainless association has released figures for the first nine months of 2023 showing that stainless steel melt shop production increased by 2.5% year–on–year to 42.6 million metric tons.

Data from the General Administration of Customs showed that the country imported a total of 383.64 million tons of coal from January to October this year, a year-on-year increase of 66.8 percent.

The Asian country exported 31.7 million tons of coal last year.
