The world’s largest rare earth producer, China’s Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel Rare-Earth (Group) Hi-Tech, has halted production for a month in an effort to push prices upwards.

China may introduce specialized invoices for designated rare earths producers this month, which could trigger panic selling by small companies on the domestic market and lead to a short-term price plunge, industry insiders said.
