Worldstainless releases stainless steel melt shop production for Q1 2025

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of January 2025, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,435,458 net tons.

In the week ending on March 1, 2025, domestic raw steel production was 1,641,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 73.7 percent.

In December 2024, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,145,016 net tons, a 0.9 percent increase from the 7,082,921 net tons shipped in December 2023.

Down 4.0 Percent YTD in 2024 from Same Period in 2023.

The U.S. imported a total of 2,067,000 net tons (NT) of steel in November 2024.

World crude steel production for the 71 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 146.8 million tonnes (Mt) in November 2024, a 0.8% increase compared to November 2023.
